"I've really enjoyed starting working for AWP. There's lots to learn but everyone is so friendly and helpful, I don't feel like the new guy at all! Now I just have to remember everyone's names..."

Jake Richards

Senior Engineer

Since starting at AWP a little over 8 years ago, I have gained experience working across all disciplines in the office. I began working in the flood risk and drainage team, then transport planning before settling in the detailed infrastructure design team.

Besides working in the office I have been fortunate enough to get the chance to visit a number of sites and see the projects first-person; this has broadened my understanding of how different aspects of design are integrated to achieve the finished product.

I started my engineering career at AWP while on day release to Exeter College studying an HNC Civil Engineering. Then in 2017 gained an EngTech professional qualification through the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Outside of work I spend my time playing and watching any kind of sport involving a ball and if not that I’ll be somewhere fishing.

I am very much enjoy working at AWP, I hope to continue working here for many more years, gaining vital experience and qualifications along the way!
