Planning approval for West Exe Park

21/02/18

We were pleased to see Teignbridge District Council grant planning permission for Exeter Estates' proposed new employment development at West Exe Park. The 47,000 sqm development will generate around 1,500 new jobs on the site at Peamore, just to the west of Exeter.

We have worked on this complicated site for some time, providing engineering input into the developing masterplan for this strategic employment site. We undertook a Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy along with a Transport Assessment and a Travel Plan to support the planning application.

At the planning committee meeting Ian MacLean from Exeter Estates said: “The the site can provide up to 1,500 new jobs, across a range of uses, and we will make land available for a slip road onto the A38 as well. This will provide a valuable boost to the area and as there is a lack of employment land being delivered in the Greater Exeter Area and in the Teignbridge Local Plan, we are fielding constant enquires from people enquiring about the site. These are local jobs for local people and this represents a genuine scheme to benefit the economy of the area.”

Derek Phillips, Exeter Chamber of Commerce Vice-President, added: “Exeter as a city is fast running out of employment land and to retain the position as the second fastest growing city, we need to find attractive additional sites. This ticks all of the boxes and is a win-win for the greater prosperity of the Greater Exeter area.”
