Royal visit to open Queen Mother Square, Poundbury

03/11/16

Pete dusted off his best suit for the opening of Queen Mother Squareat Poundbury on the 27th October. It was a momentous day for the development with H.M. The Queen, H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh and T.R.H. The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall in attendance.

Queen Mother Square is at the heart of Poundbury which is a thriving new urban development on the outskirts of Dorchester. It is ground breaking in terms of the mix of businesses, residential areas, shops and leisure facilities which helps create walkable and sustainable communities.

AWP are proud to have been involved in this project for a number of years. We have provided infrastructure design and advice to the Duchy on levels, services and drainage for the buildings on the north and east side of Queen Mother Square. We have also been providing infrastructure design services for the consortium of house builders who are building out the residential areas on recent phases.

Pete said “It was honour to be invited on the day to this great occasion, the icing on the cake was meeting Prince Charles who thanked us for all our input!”.
