Award Nomination for Millbay Boulevard

28/09/21

One of our projects, Millbay Boulevard in Plymouth, has been shortlisted for the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) South West Award for ‘Excellence in Planning Delivery’.

AWP are engineering designer to the Millbay Boulevard regeneration scheme; comprising a £2.9million landscape-led highway intervention along an existing corridor to deliver a high-quality boulevard connection between the City Centre and Millbay. The Boulevard will also provide access to further parcels of land within Millbay, unlocking new mixed-use development opportunities.

AWP have provided civil engineering input into the scheme throughout design and on-site construction, covering highways and drainage design and the application of innovative rain garden SuDs solutions. AWP have worked closely with Plymouth City Council and South West Highways to ensure the scheme was delivered as envisaged.   On Wednesday 15th September, we assisted Richard Bara from Plymouth City Council to present the scheme to the RTPI judges. This included a site walkover to explain the scheme, and a particular focus on how the scheme addresses climate change impacts and public engagement throughout the process.

Judges will decide the winner in November so watch this space!
