AWP Charity Football Tournament

08/06/23

Yesterday marked the return of our annual football tournament.

Well done and thank you so much to all teams that took part:

Bloor Homes                                  Cavanna Homes

Clifton Emery Design                     IT Champion

Greenslade Taylor Hunt               Thorverton FC/Team Evo

AWP Team 1                                AWP Team 2

After hearing Pete Eveleigh’s story, we decided to raise money for Team Evo vs MND. Pete (nicknamed Evo), a 30 year old husband, father and passionate footballer, was tragically diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 7 months ago in November 2022. The debilitating disease affects the brain and nerves and comes with a wide range of symptoms. MND sadly shortens life expectancy, and there is currently no cure.

We’re hoping the money we raised for Team Evo vs MND will help Pete achieve the best possible quality of life, and continue raising awareness for MND. To learn about Pete’s story please watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K122GCuNOwk) and to follow Pete’s journey please visit their Facebook page. A big thank you to Pete and his wife Jess who came along to support the event yesterday – it was lovely to meet them both.

Thank you to everyone who played and supported the tournament. It was a fantastic, successful (and very warm!) evening.

Team AWP 1 and Cavanna competed in the third place play-off.  Well done Cavanna for taking 3rd place!

The final saw reigning champions, IT Champion, take on Thorverton FC, the club Pete used to play for, where Thorverton took the trophy, 4-0 – congratulations!

Thank you to Simon Ruddlesden for volunteering to referee, your support is very much appreciated.

Thank you to Cranbrook Education Campus for very kindly donating the hire of the 3G pitch.

Thank you to The Cranberry Farm for providing food and drinks after the tournament, and for donating raffle prizes.

…. and finally a big thank you to everyone for your generous donations – so far we raised a fantastic £1,079!  If you would like to donate please find the fundraising page here.
