Pride Month

02/06/23

AWP is proud to be supporting Pride Month in partnership with Proud2Be, a local grassroots user-led social enterprise that exists to support and enable LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, non-binary + more) people in Devon (and beyond) to thrive, be free, safe and proud to be themselves; and to work with others to help dismantle systemic oppression.

Led by our EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity) Group, we will be hosting events throughout June to explain the history and origins of Pride, spotlight LGBTQ+ engineers from history and today, raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and challenge misconceptions.

Most importantly we will be fundraising throughout the month for Proud2Be, by selling Progress Pride Badges for colleagues to show their support, and with our Rainbow Lunch and ‘Dress the Rainbow’ celebrations on the 28th of June which will also coincide with the 54th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

We are looking forward to welcoming Max, co-founder of Proud2Be, on the 23rd of June in our weekly office-wide meeting to talk to us a bit more about Proud2Be's work and Pride Month.

If you would like to contribute to our fundraising for Proud2Be you can donate online here.

AWP have very kindly offered to match our fundraising total, providing an even greater opportunity to support the local LGBTQ+ Community.
