Rialton Terraces, Nansledan

09/12/20

Another milestone has been reached on the Nansledan development with the recent Reserved Matters planning consent for the Rialton Terraces. We were appointed by the Duchy of Cornwall to provide engineering support for the landscaped terraces which will accommodate approximately 60,000m3 of spoil from the 600 dwellings that will form the Rialton phase of the development.

We specifically provided engineering support to model the earthworks requirements in 3D and worked with the landscape architect Fabrik to provide a landscaped form which will create a series of terraces to link progressively the character of the urban edge of the Railton development and the recently completed SANG to the east. The terraces also perform many other uses; community allotments, community orchard, incorporation of SuDS, shelter for the allotments, enhanced footway/cycleway connectivity between Railton and the SANG, recreational walking/cycle routes, land forming with viewing platforms at the end of proposed development roads, community recreational area and educational opportunities for the adjacent school.

The terraces therefore not only accommodate excess spoil that would otherwise have been taken offsite but incorporate many functions in a sustainable integrated way and are part of the strategic site wide blue/green infrastructure strategy for the whole development. We are proud to continue to provide engineering support on this prestigious development.
