"We like working with the AWP team as they are experienced, flexible, commercially astute, technically savvy, but above all they get the job done."

Following on from our work on the student accommodation scheme on the Exeter Cricket Club site, we were invited to work with client Yelverton Properties and architect LHC once again on a similar project to provide much needed accommodation for Exeter University students. This student housing was part of the wider mixed-use proposed redevelopment of St James Park for Exeter City Football Club.

The growth and success of the University are very important to Exeter's economy. As a result there is a growing need for new purpose-built student accommodation in Exeter to accommodate the increasing number of students which, in turn, is helping to free up local residential housing from student landlords. This proposed scheme included a new 312 bed student accommodation scheme and a 394 sq. m. convenience retail store on a brownfield site at the rear of the football ground.

We undertook the transport, flood risk, drainage and utilities assessments to support the outline planning application which was made in November 2015. Exeter City Council granted planning permission in February 2016 and the student accommodation and convenience store were opened in 2018.
